Bath

Key-West-Lifestyle-Photography-Baby

I recently saw a similar image on another photographer’s blog.  And since I have a squishy yummy baby (aka Silas), I decided that I had to have one of these images for myself.  It is actually one in a series of him taking a bath in the kitchen sink.  Oh how I love this image.

Watching them grow and seeing the world through amazed little eyes is fascinating.  As a photographer, I am lucky enough to capture those moments with my camera.  This bath is one of those things, in this moment, he has recently fallen in love with his hands.  See how he’s holding them?  This passage in time is fleeting.  I am really looking forward to this spring and photographing Silas’s first dip into the ocean in Key West (Fort Zachary Taylor is calling my name!)

in this moment web

As many of you already know, my husband left for Afghanistan last weekend. Tomorrow will officially be the one week mark. One down, 51 to go. (I’ve decided that my official countdown will not include his two week vacation home in the middle)

Before he left, I insisted on a photo session. I dragged my sister to the beach early one morning so I could be in a few.   And to those of you looking forward to the Hobi Cat images, we’ll have to take a family out for a session soon.  My family just did not have enough time to get that done.

Thank you so much to my sister, Jen, for catching this moment.

And yes, I will continue my photography business while he’s away.  (a few people asked, so I wanted to clarify)

This next picture makes me think of them as adults.  And how (hopefully) they will remember the love they shared and cherish this image of them, together as little friends.

Like I’ve said before, sharing images is so hard for me, I want to share them all.  All the little moments, they make up our lives, and I am lucky enough to capture a few of them on my camera.

So there are just two more for now,

A special bond between the oldest and the youngest…

And finally, “if you’re getting a hug from daddy, then I am too!”  At least that’s what it sounded like to me.

I saw the best referral offer ever on someone else’s photography blog this morning, and I’ve decided to use it too.  For anyone that has portraits taken, and refers a friend you both will receive a 11×14 image of your choosing.

My Own Session

November 18, 2009

Is coming up :)

So I’ve been thinking long and hard about some awesome and creative place to take pictures of my children and family.  How will I take a picture with myself in it?  Easy peasy….AUNT JEN!!  Gotta love an Aunt Jen.  I’m going to set up the shots, and she’s going to take them.

I think we’ve settled on a place, Smather’s Beach in Key West!  I’m going to rent a Hobie Cat and we’re going to get some fun interaction images.  It’s not your traditional family pose, but it will definitely be a lot of fun!

Stay tuned…

Baby Silas was born August 28th! After 6 long weeks of bed rest, I was so excited to be able to see and hold the wee baby! Of course his siblings take every opportunity to sneak a hug in too.

As with all newborn sessions, I took his portraits within a few days, curly newborns are my favorite. I can’t believe it’s already been a little over a month since I delivered him. Your time with a newborn is really limited, they grow so fast! As I look at him nestled into his moses basket next to me, he already looks so different. We are enjoying each and every day, all the snuggles!

And for me, I’m slowly coming off of maternity leave. I will only be booking a couple of sessions a week through October.

I will be at the Key West Preschool Co-Op on Saturday for their Yard Sale fundraiser. If you’re in town, stop by and see me!
